Three out of four organizations have experienced a cyberattack against their OT environment
A recent global survey from ABI Research and Palo Alto Networks revealed that three out of four organizations have experienced a cyberattack against their Operational Technology (OT) environment. In some cases, industrial operations get shut down due to the attack. Malware, Ransomware, and Insider Attacks round out the top three most feared types of attacks, with malicious actors using more complex tactics to breach networks.
Of the companies that experience OT attacks, 75%of them report frequent attacks, which raises the alarm even more. The study highlights how vulnerable industrial companies are to sophisticated cyberattacks, with many being caught off-guard.
The good news is that several cybersecurity technologies and strategies are proven to mitigate cyberattacks on Industrial Control Systems (ICS)/OT assets. From risk monitoring software to Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, OT teams have plenty of cybersecurity tools at their disposal to reduce the cyber threat to their industrial network.
