Hannover Messe was back for the first time since 2019. Though the event took a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, industrial digital transformation did not take any time off. On the contrary, companies within industrial, supply chain, and energy environments have made big bets—and have undertaken big investments—in their pursuit of technology as a pathway to greater productivity and profitability.
The two primary themes of Hannover Messe 2022 were digital transformation and
sustainability. It is clear that organizations are looking to strike a balance between
Information Technology (IT) and Operational Technology (OT), while also setting their crosshairs on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) goals and regulations.
As expected, 5G was heavily discussed inside meeting rooms and during face-to-face discussions. Also, given the high stakes (and equally high visibility) of cyberattacks and supply chain breakdowns in the last year, cybersecurity and supply chain resilience were also hot topics throughout the conference.
Four ABI Research analysts were on-site in Hannover, and we are sharing what they observed and discussed throughout this highly-anticipated event.
